"Dagon" is a short story by American author H. P. Lovecraft. It was written in July 1917 and is one of the first stories that Lovecraft wrote as an adult. It was first published in the November 1919 edition of The Vagrant. Dagon was later published in Weird Tales. It is considered by many to be one of Lovecraft's most forward-looking stories. The story is the testament of a tortured, morphine-addicted man who relates an incident that occurred during his service as an officer during World War I. In the unnamed narrator's account, his cargo ship is captured by an Imperial German sea-raider in «one of the most open and least frequented parts of the broad Pacific». He escapes on a lifeboat and drifts aimlessly, south of the equator, until he eventually finds himself stranded on «a slimy expanse of hellish black mire which extended about [him] in monotonous undulations as far as [he] could see.... The region was putrid with the carcasses of decaying fish and less describable things which [he] saw protruding from the nasty mud of the unending plain.» He theorizes that this area was formerly a portion of the ocean floor thrown to the surface by volcanic activity, "exposing regions which for innumerable millions of years had lain hidden under unfathomable watery depths. Lovecraft erzählt die Geschichte als vorgeblich in einer Flaschenpost an der Küste Yucatans gefundenen Bericht eines deutschen U-Bootkommandanten aus dem Jahr 1917. In diesem Text berichtet der Kommandant des deutschen U-Boots U29, Graf von Altberg-Ehrenstein, von den Ereignissen im Zeitraum vom 18. Juni bis zum 20. August, die schließlich zum Tod der gesamten Besatzung des Schiffs führen.

Schatten über Innsmouth (Originaltitel „The Shadow over Innsmouth“) ist eine Erzählung des US-amerikanischen Schriftstellers Howard Phillips Lovecraft aus dem Bereich der Horrorliteratur. Sie wurde 1931 fertiggestellt und 1936 zum ersten Mal veröffentlicht. Die Erzählung beschreibt aus der Sicht eines jungen Mannes, wie dieser in der verfallenden, „vom Grauen überschatteten“ fiktiven Hafenstadt Innsmouth auf eine seltsame Hybridrasse – halb Mensch, halb Fisch-Frosch – stößt. Diese Stadtbewohner gehören dem Esoterischen Orden von Dagon an, der die gleichnamige Philister-Gottheit Dagon aus dem Cthulhu-Mythos anbetet. Gejagt von den Bewohnern gelingt es dem Erzähler, aus der Stadt zu fliehen, nur um schließlich ein noch grauenhafteres Geheimnis zu enthüllen. Heute gilt Schatten über Innsmouth als Lovecrafts größte Erzählung über Degeneration und den Niedergang einer Gemeinde, dargestellt durch Rassenvermischung der Einwohner mit den Tiefen Wesen. Das Thema des Rassismus ist in diesem Werk allgegenwärtig.

Dagon ist eine Kurzgeschichte von H. P. Lovecraft aus dem Jahr 1917 und damit eines seiner ersten Werke als Erwachsener.
